MRED LLC, the multiple listing service covering the Chicago region, continues to push the envelope for Green MLS. Earlier this fall as part of an overall website upgrade, MRED also launched the “MRED Green Room” on the fully updated www.mredllc.com.
The MRED Green Room features a step-by-step guide to fields for green information, a description of common green home list and search steps, links to training and additional resources.
The Green Room also includes an online library of the 14 green programs and certifications which are offered as drop-down choices. The library includes a description of each program, a sample document that proves participation in the program, and resources for additional information. The library will help listing agents enter program information more accurately and source critical documentation which verifies participation through a third-party. The library also helps buyer agents confirm the information provided. Last winter, MRED began requiring document attachments when the green program field is selected.
MRED has also provided a short consumer overview which explains how the green features of a home are listed in the MLS. Contractors use this presentation to explain how participating in a green program can be reflected later at resale in the MLS.
Finally, the MRED Green Room includes an overview video produced by friends at Green Dream Group. The video also features Realtor Sarah Coulter who was my co-chair on the Green MLS Team for MRED, as well as Michael Hobbs, a local appraiser who specializes in green property valuation.
If you want information about green or efficient homes in Chicagoland – it’s all at your fingertips now on MREDllc.com!
